Right now l'm reading "The President Street Boys : Growing Up Mafia" by Frank Di Matteo. The is a non-fiction based on his life growing up with the Italian Mafia and going the mob. The book takes place during the 1960's and he uses good diction to make you visualize like you were actually there.
Frank uses allusion in the book by comparing movies like "The Godfather", "Wise Guys" and of course "Scarface". I'm guessing he uses allusion to make the reader understand a bit better of how life was back then during gang wars and kidnapping etc. In the book, on page 59, it talks about how a crew member called Jelly was killed on his boat and got chopped into pieces and put his ring finger in a box to send to the boss, and the box had a not that said "Jelly swims with the fishes now". So... Jelly's pieces were thrown in the water.

A benefit is that it teaches you to reflect and share your work and get feedback from other people. One challenge is that only one person can hack into the mainframe and steal info, or even delete. E-portfolios can show the professor or whoever you're trying to impress that you are responsible and consistent with it. I think people should look at others e-portfolios so they can give advice. I learned that if I have several things in my e-portfolios it can show that I'm responsible with my work.
I have mixed feelings with ebooks and real books. With ebooks I don't have to worry about space that the books might take away. But, something about having a real book just feels a lot better. So, personally I like real books because it just feels better to read.
Knowing me, if had an ebook I'll probably get distracted by a game or a notification. While in a book, it's only you and words and you don't get distracted as easily. A plus about ebooks is that the books won't cost as much as a hard covered book. |
